Maurten Bi-Carb
The Maurten Bicarb System is an advanced sports fuel designed to help athletes push the boundaries of effort and power during high-intensity exercise.
The Maurten Bicarb System consists of three components -
(A) The bowl - Sold Separately
(B) The hydrogel -Included
(C) The bicarbonate - Included
The Maurten Bicarb System has different serving sizes - 15, 19,
22, and 25. It's not one-size-fits-all. The number refers to the grams
of bicarbonate in each serving option.
Each Bicarb System box contains 4 servings of components B and C.
Component A is reusable, and sold separately for your connivence.
How to use:
Timing.
Preparation is key and requires forward-thinking. The optimal
timeframe for a Bicarb System dose is 1–2 hours after a meal, such
as breakfast, and 1.5–2 hours before starting training or competition.
You’re priming the body for high-intensity sport.
Intensity.
High-intensity, anaerobic, above threshold. That point of no return —
when athletes succumb to rising acidity that overwhelms the
muscles — is when the Maurten Bicarb System enters the game.
Serving size.
The right serving — 15, 19, 22, or 25 — is determined by
assessing athlete weight and bicarbonate experience. In general, the
higher the weight, the bigger the serving size. But without
experience more doesn’t necessarily mean better — you need to get
used to it. Work up from the lowest suggested dose for your weight.
The hydrogel.
Each dose is consumed with a dual-purpose hydrogel component.
The hydrogel protects the mini bicarbonate tablets from the acidity
of the stomach — reducing negative gastrointestinal side-effects and
promoting transit into the intestines, where the bicarbonate is
absorbed. Bound within the hydrogel is 40 grams of carbohydrates to
help fuel the session.
Swallow — don’t chew.
The mini tablets should not be chewed during consumption.
