BackRoads London
Aaron Hendrikx founded BackRoads Brews + Shoes in 2017 bringing his passion for running and craft beer together. While in the planning process, Aaron knew that BackRoads would need to be more than just a retail store — building a community and offering exceptional customer service were going to be imperative in building a successful business.
With this in mind the combination of a retail store and in-store taproom serving craft beer and coffee was created. The store taproom is designed to be a space where everyone can come together, connect and be part of a community, whether you are a runner or not.
BackRoads Kitchener
After nearly 8 years of BackRoads London, there was no doubt the space had become so much more than a retail store to many of our customers. With that in mind, Aaron, Emily and their team set out with a new goal in mind: Begin building a new community hub in another city.
After a lengthy construction process, BackRoads Kitchener officially opened it's doors in May of 2026!
Featuring the same retail store + taproom & coffee bar combination as London, we're looking forward to working with new faces and building friendships and memories in a new place.

About Aaron
Aaron grew up on a rural farm, where he spent the majority of his free time playing sports and running. Once at the University of Guelph his running really flourished, and he became one of a few athletes to win two individual Canadian University Cross Country Championships. Aaron trained and continues to run mostly on country backroads, which is where the store name “BackRoads” comes from.
When Aaron is not working on BackRoads he is spending time with his fiancé Emily, their son Austin and dog Cadence.
