BackRoads Winter Distance Running Program 2025
Boost Your Endurance, Speed, and Performance this Spring!
The BackRoads Distance Running Program is the perfect choice for runners looking to develop their endurance, speed, and race-day performance across half-marathon, ATB 30K, or full marathon distances in preparation for the Spring racing season. This program is tailored for individuals who can currently complete at least 16km on a “long” run by the time of registration.
Our Distance Program welcomes both half-marathon and marathon participants, with flexible group-led sessions designed to fit your schedule. This structure fosters a strong sense of community, encouraging collaboration and support among our dedicated distance running community. At BackRoads, we’re proud to offer an inclusive and diverse running environment where every participant is celebrated. Our last Distance Program had 165 members!
Program Details:

Start Date: Monday, January 13th, 6:00pm at BackRoads

Focus: Half-marathon, ATB 30k and marathon
Program Requirements:
This program is ideal for runners who can comfortably complete 16km on a long run by the time of registration. If you're working toward your first half-marathon, check out our BackRoads 10km+ Running Program, which is a great option for those working their way up to their first half.
What’s Included:

15-Week Training Program:
2-week base period, 11-week race-specific training (half-marathon/marathon), 2-week taper (targeting Mississauga or Toledo race weekends) -

Engaging, High-Energy Workouts: Weekly structured sessions with a focus on having fun and experiencing group camaraderie

Weekly Group Workouts:

Mondays OR Tuesdays: 6:00 PM - Intervals/Repeats/Hills

Wednesdays OR Thursdays: 6:00 PM - Tempo work (Threshold or race-pace training)

Saturdays: 8:00 AM - Long runs (varied distances)
